Lid Expression

About the Treatment

Lid Expression is a precise, in-office procedure performed by Dr. Hill to gently clear obstructed meibomian glands along the eyelids. By releasing stagnant oils and restoring natural gland flow, this treatment helps improve tear stability and reduce evaporative dry eye symptoms at their source.

Lid expression supports healthier tear film function and can provide both immediate relief and improved response to ongoing dry eye therapies.

What to Expect

During the procedure, Dr. Hill carefully applies controlled pressure along the eyelid margins to express blocked gland contents. The process is targeted and methodical to clear obstruction while maintaining patient comfort.

Patients may feel pressure or mild tenderness during expression, especially in areas of significant blockage. The procedure typically lasts about 10–15 minutes and is often performed following thermal or light-based treatments to enhance effectiveness.

How to Prepare

  • No special preparation is typically required.
  • Arrive with clean eyelids free of eye makeup or heavy skincare products.
  • Contact lenses should be removed prior to treatment.
